Mugusu Maternity Ward
Project Type: Medical
Benefiting: Ugandan Women
Cost: $1500
Status: Completed
Description: The Mugusu Maternity ward was built by the Ugandan government but was not equipped with any medical supplies to aid in the birthing process. As a result, Ugandan mothers gave birth in the bushes or at home which contributed to mother and infant mortality rates. Before Kids with Knowledge provided the supplies, no babies were delivered in the maternity ward and an average of 8-10 women per week came in for a prenatal checkup. Since the project was completed, six babies were successfully delivered and an average of 45 mothers report to the Mugusu health clinic for prenatal checkup every week. There have been no birth-related deaths so far. Thank you to everyone who contributed to help make this project a success!
Scholarship Fund for Girls
Project Type: Educational
Benefiting: Ugandans
Cost: $1500
Status: Completed
Description: Kids with Knowledge has started a scholarship fund for girls in Uganda to promote education. The average educational training for a woman between the ages 15-24 in Africa is less than two years. Studies show that reduced education for women leads to reduced empowerment and control in sexual relationships which increases HIV tranmission and infection rates. By giving girls the chance to get an education, KWK empowers them to make wise decisions and take control over their own lives. To contribute to the fund, please email kidswithknowledge@gmail.com.
